Personal profile

Kathleen Nthakomwa-Cassidy is an experienced Senior Lecturer with 13 years prior experience in practice as a HCPC registered Occupational Therapst working as a pracitioner leader and manager in mental health and learning disabilities. She has worked as an educator in varied settings since 2006 teaching on professional practice based courses and non vocational programmes at Undergraduate and Post graduate level.

She is a ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv Teacher Fellow in recognition of her adoption of authentic and inclusive pedagogical practice and she was awarded SFHEA in 2023.
With a wealth of experience in curriculum development ,course design and external examining roles across three Health related programmes, she set up the successful MSc Global Health programme and is Programme Leader for this course which attracts students from all over the world.

She is currently on secondment at the ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv Education Academy where she leads ' The empowering educator: Educational Practice in Higher Education' module on the PGCert in Empowering Education course. She also mentors colleagues to attain Advance HE recognition and is currently the Academic lead for the forthcoming teaching and Learning conference (2025).

She is committed to knowledge transfer activities and has delivered extensive mental health training for students and staff and other organisations beyond ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv to promote health literacy and reduce stigma associated with mental health. She holds a co-lead role at ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv which focuses on promoting Education For Sustainable Development and embedding this at the University and beyond.
