Research staff development concordat

The HR Excellence in Research is a UK-wide process, incorporating the QAA UK Quality Code for Higher Education and the Concordat to support the Career Development of Researchers, which enables institutions to gain the European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.

Supporting the career development of researchers

The Concordat, developed and supported by UK Research and Innovation and Universities UK and supported by , is an agreement between the funders and employers of researchers in the UK.

According to Vitae, "The Concordat aims to increase the attractiveness and sustainability of research careers in the UK and to improve the quantity, quality and impact of research for the benefit of UK society and the economy.  It articulates key principles for the support and management of research”.

ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv (ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv) is fully committed to implementing the Concordat. In line with ÃÛÌÒ´«Ãºmv's Knowledge Creation Strategy, the Research Services Directorate and Doctoral College work with faculties to support our researchers in their research and career development. We seek to align our activities to the seven key principles of The Concordat which cover all areas of research activity.
